Swami Vivekanand defines education as “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in the man”. Department of Electrical Engineering, established in 1957, one of the oldest departments in the institute, always put efforts to bring out the perfection in the students’ activities.

Department has strong academic and placement record. Department has well equipped laboratories and computer facilities with power back-up. Department has dedicated faculty and staff. Department has well-coordinated and productive learning resources to create educational ambience so as to develop morally, ethically self-righteous electrical technicians having competitive knowledge and skills. Department offers on interactive learning environment with appropriate blending of theory and practical so that matriculated aspirant is transformed into electrical technician, who can face each and every challenge in industrial situations and society. Department has strong alumni base, whose support in creating better educational facility for next generation is appreciable. Department has received advanced protection relays and management systems (costing @ Rs. 40 lakhs) as donation from GE Multilin Canada and also developed two Smart Interactive Digital Classrooms through alumni sponsorship.

Department organizes every year “Inspire” – a state level technical event, comprising Paper presentation and Poster presentation competition, Quiz, C-programming competition, Circuit building skill development competition etc in collaboration with Department of Instrumentation and Computer Engineering. It provides a platform for the budding engineers to showcase their talent and skills.

Department promotes use of renewable energy resources as per the national policy and has installed 1 kW wind turbine for demo purpose. Also the corridor lighting of main building is supplied from roof-top installed solar photovoltaic panels. Department has installed 10 kW Roof-top On-grid Solar Power Plant through grant for project development under innovative idea from District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC). Every month @1000 units are generated by this plant for institute and @ 100 units are sold to MSEDCL. Many lab development projects are being undertaken by the department to support institutional development.

Electrical Engineering Student Association (EESA) in the Department work for integrity and cooperation to organize several co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the all-round development of students. Department publishes a half-yearly news-letter “Spark” in association with EESA, which provides a platform for the students to express their views on latest technology in the field of their study and also to develop their reading –writing habits. The students are also encouraged to involve actively in literature and promote their hobbies and interests.
